for Westwood School Committee
"Unlocking Westwood's Full Potential."
I grew up in a town a lot like Westwood — where strong public schools, town sports, and a real sense of community set kids up for success. That foundation propelled me to Harvard, to Wharton, and to a career where I now run my own business helping companies grow across the country.
Our family moved to Westwood to raise our three children. We love the people and community in town.
I'm running because I believe we can — and should — expect the full potential of Westwood Schools. I'll bring the same pragmatic, results-driven approach I use every day in business: set clear goals, measure progress, and hold leadership accountable.
Our children have attended Hanlon / Pine Hill over the past four years. My wife Amy is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and has served on the Pine Hill PTO board for several years. I coach soccer, assistant coach hockey, co-coordinate the Pine Hill Math League, and have served on the district's Portrait of a Graduate committee. Our family is deeply invested in Westwood's success.
Generations of dedicated public servants have built something special in Westwood. I'm running to help protect and build on that legacy. Here's where I'll focus.
Westwood's schools have been funded below level services for three consecutive years, leading to teacher cuts and growing class sizes. I pledge to work to achieve a schools budget that preserves or expands both student programming and funding for teachers — and I pledge not to support a fourth straight year where that commitment isn't met.
See the funding data →While MCAS is just one data point, gaps have emerged in Westwood student performance relative to our neighboring districts — especially in middle school math and science, where our students go from leading peers in grades 3-5 to lagging them in later grades. I'll push to accelerate the K-12 math and ELA curriculum audits, benchmark against top-performing peers, and help ensure Westwood recovers to the track it was on prior to COVID.
See the MCAS comparisons →Westwood will soon be asking voters for a generational investment in the middle school, and I am fully committed to seeing that project through. As a business owner, I'll focus on making sure it's delivered at a scope and cost that residents can enthusiastically support, while seeking opportunities for positive changes in the meantime to support current students.
See the grade-level data →Parents deserve to know what's happening in our schools and to be heard before decisions are made, not after. I'll push for enhanced communication so that all stakeholders in Westwood schools have their voices heard — including annual reports with real data and open forums before major policy changes.
See what parents told us →I'll support a detailed review of the recommendations in the recent special education audit to strengthen programming and support long-term stability for our students and staff.
Too many kids fall in the "middle" — capable of more with the right challenge. I'll push for differentiated instruction and enrichment tracks across subjects.
The overwhelming majority of parents oppose phone access at school. I'll support and strengthen district-wide phone-free policies.
Improve extended day access for all families who need it, strengthen anti-bullying enforcement, and maintain mental health resources across the district.
